2022 Fitzgerald Gala FAQ
1. What is the Fitzgerald gala?
The Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum holds a gala event every year for its primary fundraiser. All proceeds from this event go directly to preservation and restoration of the museum, as well as community outreach and literacy programs. Of course, we also strive to throw a fun event that you will want to attend year after year! This year’s gala will be a night of old Hollywood glamour to celebrate the 100th year publication anniversary of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel “The Beautiful and Damned.”
2. Why is the theme Old Hollywood?
To add a little fun and flair to our typical 20s-style parties, we chose to incorporate the glamour and class of the 20s and 30s Hollywood scene into this year’s gala. Not only have F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novels and several short stories been adapted into film, but Scott himself spent nearly two years as a screenwriter in Hollywood in the 1930s. Our décor will be centered around the theme, but the annual Fitzgerald gala will still have its elegant 20s atmosphere.
3. Is this an event for children?
We love your kids and welcome them to the museum, but we ask that you leave the little ones at home for the gala and come enjoy a night out! This event is for adults aged 21 and over, but we invite you to bring the kids to one of our several open house events we hold throughout the year.
4. What is the dress code?
Though there is no strict dress code for the gala, we encourage you to dress in your best glamorous Hollywood or 1920s attire: flapper dresses, beaded gowns, bowler hats, and feathers are just a few ideas!
5. What is included with my ticket?
Your ticket allows you admission into the gala, as well as food, non-alcoholic beverages, and two drink tickets for alcoholic beverages. The gala will have a professional photographer photobooth, silent auction, and live band The Alley Stompers (formerly Lofi Loungers).
6. Can I purchase additional drinks?
Absolutely. Additional drinks over your two drink tickets may be purchased at $3 each. We will have beer donated by Common Bond Brewers, red and white wines, and two signature cocktails: “The Beautiful” (a refreshing strawberry lemonade prosecco) and “The Damned” (a stronger bourbon peach tea). Our bartender will be able to accept cash or cards.
7. Will there be music?
Of course! There will be a live jazz band, The Alley Stompers (formerly known around Old Cloverdale as the Lofi Loungers), as well as a dance floor. Additionally, for your entertainment, we will have a professional photographer taking photobooth photos, a silent auction, and photo opportunities with a beautiful backdrop created by Tiffany Hughes.
8. What items will be included in the silent auction?
